Defending champions Berkshire face a must-win mission against Herefordshire in their final Western Division One match of the Durant Cricket National Counties Championship which starts at Eastnor today. 

Berkshire have drawn all three of their matches to date and were saved by rain from a first home defeat in nine years against Cheshire at Finchampstead earlier this week when the final day was washed out.

Plymouth Argyle boss Steven Schumacher was delighted with his “refreshed” side as they beat Leyton Orient 2-0 to win through the EFL Cup second round.

Schumacher said: “We played some really exciting football in the first half and my only criticism is we didn’t get another goal but credit to Orient they had a right good go in the second half.”

New Zealand international striker Ben Waine bagged two first half goals as Championship newcomers Plymouth Argyle eased into the EFL Cup second round 2-0 against League One Leyton Orient at Home Park.

Argyle’s opener came seconds after Orient striker Joe Pigott fired just wide on 25 minutes.

Zach Lion-Cachet made his second century of the match to keep Oxfordshire on top against Devon at Exeter. 

The highly-rated Lion-Cachet followed his maiden century in the first innings with 105 which made him only the fifth Oxfordshire batter to score two centuries in a match and the first since Jonny Cater 10 years ago.
