Oxfordshire enjoyed mixed fortunes at the start of their defence of the National Counties T20 title with a win and a loss in their Group Four opener against Buckinghamshire at Wormsley. Having started with a 10 runs defeat in the first match of the day, Oxfordshire bounced back in the second with a four wickets victory thanks to decisive contributions from two contracted county players, Samit Patel and Harrison Ward.

A LAST gasp penalty by Fletcher Williams (pictured) enabled Ivybridge Town to rescue a point with a 1-1 draw at home to Okehampton in the South West Peninsula League.It needed a half-time pep talk from manager Darren Stewart to spark some life into the Ivybridge side after a below par first half in which they were fortunate to escape with a single goal deficit at the interval.

More of the double-headers in today’s opening round of National Counties T20 competition have fallen victim to the weather.Berkshire’s matches against Wales NC at the Falkland club in Newbury and Wiltshire’s against Devon at the South Wilts club in Salisbury have been cancelled because of waterlogging following the recent heavy rain.
