Dorset beat Wiltshire by 92 runs in their Minor Counties Championship Western Division opener at Sherborne School.Dorset won the toss, chose to bat, were all out for 170 and indebted to James Hayman's 46 off 52 balls batting at number 10.

Central defender Aaron Martin is new Exeter City manager Matt Taylor's first summer signing. Isle of Wight born former Oxford United and Yeovil Town defender Martin, 28, started his pro career at Southampton in 2009 after playing for non-League Eastleigh.

Taunton & Pickeridge amateur ace Tom Sloman is the new South West England Golf champion.
Somerset’s Sloman scored brilliant back to back 65s to finish 12 under par and pip Bristol’s Mitch Waite to the individual strokeplay title at Cumberwell Park Golf Club, Bradford-on-Avon.

Somerset missed out on a One Day Cup quarter final play-off despite beating South Group winners Hampshire by three wickets in a thrilling Southampton run chase at the Ageas Bowl.Hampshire scored a huge 356-9 before South African Johann Myburgh (71) and big-hitting Peter Trego (100) set up the platform for a Somerset win.
England international Craig Overton hit the final ball for four - his second in three balls - and victory.

After a year’s absence the OVO Energy Tour of Britain makes a welcome return to South West England in September.
The hugely popular national cycling tour makes its 10th visit to Devon in 12 years on Monday September 3 and a welcome return to cycling hub Bristol on Tuesday September 4.
