Gloucestershire golf ace Laurie Potter is the new 2016 South West amateur champion following two scorching rounds over the famous championship at St Enodoc.
The Cotswold Hills golfer returned a first round leader board-topping three under par 66 to set the pace.

Dorset scored the first eye-catching result of South West Counties Championship Week at St Enodoc Golf Club.
Despite boasting regional champion – Weymouth’s Tom Robson – Dorset finished foot of the six-team inter-county match play table at Bristol & Clifton last summer.

The South Western Counties Golf Association Championship tees off with three cracking derby matches over the Church Course at St Enodoc Golf Club today.
Recently crowned Cornwall champion Joe Cruise – from host club St Enodoc – and Devon ace Jake Burnage (Saunton GC) get the week-long tournament underway at 0815 when they meet in the top of the order singles match as the cross-Tamar derby rivals clash on day one.

Six Swansea Spartans are included in Wales Women’s Hockey squad for the first international Test series of summer, against Italy in San Vito Romano from June 23-26.
Spartans' Hockey Wales international ambassador Jo Westwood (pictured) and Holcombe's Sarah Jones are in line to receive their 50th Welsh caps during the three game series.

Leicester born former Leicester City and Kidderminster Harriers playmaker AMAN VERMA, 29, agrees new deal to stay at National League Torquay United FC next season.
Verma joined United - managed by former Kiddy defender Kevin Nicholson - on loan last season and played a major part in the Gulls' Great Escape from relegation.
