Liam Tancock defended his 50m backstroke world title to collect a third gold medal for the British Gas GBR Swim Team on the final day of the 2011 FINA World Championships in Shanghai.
Having qualified fastest for the final, the world record holder from Exeter dominated from the gun before touching in 24.50 – the fourth fastest time of his career and his quickest for two years.

Dorset’s Hayley Davis shot a stunning six-under par 66 to win the 2011 English girls’ golf championship by eight shots at Ellesborough in Buckinghamshire.
Her final round included back-to-back eagles and the Ferndown golfer signed off with a crowd-pleaser, rolling an impressive birdie putt in at the last.

Tom Lyle smashed a sensational six off the final ball as Werrington beat Callington by three wickets to win the 2011 Clive Rosevear Hawkey Cup final at St Austell CC last night.
Werrington required eight to win off the last two balls and Lyle obliged with a four and then a cup-clinching six.
