Despite having a good share of possession on the 3G pitch, Ivybridge struggled to break down the university side during the first half and suffered a blow on the stroke of half-time when Jake Lane put the ball into his own net while attempting to clear a dangerous cross from Alangel Joseph.

SWPL logoTHERE was a welcome boost for Ivybridge Town with their first win in six games when they beat local rivals Elburton Villa 3-0 in the South West Peninsula League at Erme Valley last night.

Victory came on the back of a double defeat, home and away, against seventh placed Sidmouth following the news of a breakdown in merger talks between the Peninsula and Western Leagues which effectively ended Ivybridge’s hopes of playing at a higher level next season.

Fletcher WilliamsFIELDING a side depleted by injuries and unavailability, Ivybridge Town completed their fifth game without a win when they lost 3-2 at home to Sidmouth in the South West Peninsula League on Saturday.

That was despite a spirited fightback that saw Ivybridge overcome a two-goal deficit to draw level only to be beaten by a late winner.
