Northumberland and Shropshire opened their accounts in this season’s Durant Cricket National Counties Championship with respective ten wickets victories over Norfolk and Wiltshire.Northumberland were the first winners in the third round of Championship matches, wrapping up victory at Jesmond in Eastern Division Two shortly after lunch on the second day.

Cornwall seamer Will MacVicar returned the best bowling figures against Devon in 40 years on an eventful opening day of their Durant Cricket National Counties Championship Western Division One match Truro.The Kent-based all-rounder took eight for 46 to dismiss Devon for 120 in their first innings in a day in which 22 wickets tumbled.

Cheshire will face the first of back-to-back matches against Berkshire when the sides meet in a Durant Cricket National Counties Championship Western Division One match at Nantwich today.The sides will face each other again at Alderley Edge in the semi-finals of the National Counties Trophy seven days later but Cheshire’s immediate concern is how to transfer their 50 overs form into three-day cricket.
