Devon’s international bowls star Sophie Tolchard has won the Bowls England Women's National Junior Singles Championship following a thrilling 21-20 final victory at Victoria Park, Royal Leamington Spa today.
Tolchard (Kings Bowling Club, Torquay) beat fellow England international Jamie-Lea Winch following a brilliant last-end in front of an enraptured gallery.

Manager Paul Tisdale has dropped the broadest hint yet to how his Exeter City FC side are set to line-up to kick off the new season.
City host South West rivals Yeovil Town FC at St James’ Park on Saturday and Tisdale selected the same starting XI for final pre-season fixtures against Sheffield United and at Torquay.

Devon have won the England Bowls men's county Middleton Cup, supported by the Friends of English Bowling, for the first time since 2011.
Devon beat Cumbria 125-113 in the Middleton Cup final at Victoria Park, Royal Leamington Spa after beating Kent in the first of the morning's semi-finals.

Cornwall’s Emily Toy won the 2015 English girls’ championship at Sheringham Golf Club yesterday with a four round total of four under par 288.
The 17-year-old from Carlyon Bay lcinched the England Golf title by two shots from girl internationals Lizzie Prior (Burhill) and Emma Allen (Meon Valley).

Reuben Reid signalled his Home Park pre-season return in typical fashion, with a superb 87th minute winning goal as Plymouth Argyle beat resolute Reading Under 21s 2-1.
The prolific Argyle ace spun on to a Graham Carey pass, beat his marker on the edge of the box before drilling the winner into the corner.
