Ryan Lowe’s Preston got back to winning ways with a 1-0 victory at former club Plymouth Argyle to reignite North End play-off hopes.

The win lifted North End to ninth, five points off sixth placed Norwich with a game in hand, while condemning Ian Foster’s Argyle to a fourth successive home defeat without scoring.

IVYBRIDGE Town failed to take advantage of a bright start as they were held to a 1-1 draw in their South West Peninsula League game away to Stoke Gabriel and Torbay Police on Saturday.

It looked good for Ivybridge as they took the lead in the second minute with Fletcher Williams heading in at the far post from a right-wing corner by Luke Forward.

Leeds United soared to second place in the Championship with a comfortable 2-0 win at Plymouth thanks to goals by forwards Wilfried Gnonto and Georginio Rutter.

Daniel Farke’s side made a flying start and their early pressure was rewarded with a 10^th minute goal for in-form forward Gnonto, taking his goal tally to five in as many games as rain again swept across Home Park throughout.

Coventry City defender Liam Kitching scored a last-minute free kick leveller to draw 2-2 at Plymouth Argyle in the Championship.

Kitching got the final near-post flick to Victor Torp’s free kick from the left in the sixth and final minute of stoppage time.
