Saltash got the business done early in Saturday’s FA Vase tie against Western League first division Portishead at the Waterways Stadium.

They were 2-0 up inside the first 30 minutes courtesy of an early strike by Josh Toulson and a Jordan Ewing penalty (27 minutes) and defended their advantage well.

Ivybridge Town are through to the Walter C Parson League Cup third round following a 3-2 win at Stoke Gabriel and Torbay Police in a classic game of two halves on Saturday (Oct 14).

A confident first half performance saw Ivybridge take a deserved 2-0 interval lead. But injuries to Connor Rush and Fletcher Williams resulted in a number of changes early in the second period and Stoke Gabriel took advantage to draw level.

It was the leaders' ninth successive win in the league and extended their unbeaten run to 14 matches, including a penalty shoot-out success against Torquay United in the Devon St Luke’s Bowl.
