UNBEATEN Ivybridge Town boosted their championship prospects at the top of the East Division with a 2-0 home win over their closest challengers Bridport in the South West Peninsula League.

Lively attacker Jack Alexander opened the scoring after good work by Rio Daly in the 36th minute and defender Josh Zimmerman wrapped up victory with a looping header in the 67th minute.

Matt Searle fired St Austell into the Senior Cup quarter-finals with a 90th minute winner against Western League Saltash at Poltair Park on Tuesday night.

With an enthralling tie heading towards extra time, Searle found a yard of space inside a crowded penalty area and placed his shot from 15 yards into the net to spark wild celebrations.

argyle logo2013Plymouth Argyle playmaker Morgan Whittaker made the most of the winter conditions to score a late leveller as the greens drew 3-3 with impressive Middlesbrough at rain-lashed Home Park.

Bali Mumba cut inside from the left and exchanged passes with Finn Azaz to break into the Boro box on three minutes. Boro keeper Seny Dieng was quick of his line to deny Mumba as he let fly from close range.

Scottish striker Ryan Hardie took his Championship goal tally to six with Plymouth Argyle’s third goal as the greens beat basement side Sheffield Wednesday 3-0 to record their fourth league win at Home Park.

Playmaker Morgan Whittaker and striker Mustapha Bundu scored within a four-minute spell at the end of the first half to put Argyle 2-0 up and 70th minute substitute Hardie added the gloss.
